One Year Ago Today

It’s hard to believe it but one year ago on this day, after quite some time getting it ready, the website went live. It’s also difficult to believe that one year’s already gone by. On the one year anniversary, we take a look back at how it’s changed since then, how it stands today, and the plans for the future.

It’s only fair to kick off the one year anniversary by taking a walk down memory lane, starting at the beginning. The original concept of the website was meant to be a place where anyone interested in creating their own fantasy world had everything they needed to do so all in one place.

While the website’s made great stride towards that goal, there still remains a great deal of work to do. There’s so much that goes into building a fantasy world from scratch that one year isn’t enough. Still, we’ve established a strong foundation that’s sure to help anyone! At the one year anniversary, there’s now over 100 articles on the website, which all can be found on our blog page.

One noteworthy change that’s occurred since then was the addition of the Beginner’s Guide. It’s a page devoted to giving you the basic necessities of making of building a fantasy world from the ground up. We designed this page to help anyone who wants to create their own world but wasn’t sure where to start. The articles on that page will go a long way in helping any would-be creators!

While the website hasn’t had any major changes besides adding the Beginner’s Guide page, the changes it went through were mostly cosmetic. We worked to improve the user experience when visiting Viernor by doing some behind-the-scenes actions. Today, the website is better compared to one year ago but the work isn’t wholly done.

As the Website Stands Today

This wizard is a practitioner of forest magic. He has a green hat that tilts to the right. On his face is gray hair, blue eyes, a triangular nose, and an open mouth. His grey beard is lined with spots and his hair runs to just above his shoulders. He has a green cloak on with the symbol of leaf on his body. His brown belt and gray pants contrast with his green clothes. At his bottom are two brown shoes. His arms are holding a wand with an alternating light-dark brown pattern in front of him. Atop the want are two pinchers. Floating above the pinchers is a small yellow orb. In the background is a blue-purple gradient and the latter color is shaped roughly like a diamond, shining behind the wizard. The blue color surrounds the purple color.

On the one-year anniversary of the website going live, it’s prudent to see how it stands today. It’s changed quite a bit over the past year but Viernor is in a better position compared to one year ago.

Slowly but surely, the website is growing. As Viernor continues to grow, we will never forget our number one goal: to provide you with what you need to know in order to build a fantasy world. We know doing that isn’t easy which is why we broke it down into a series of smaller, more manageable steps. Our articles, each of which focuses on one topic, are structured to help you achieve the world of your dreams!

While we will continue writing about the things that go into creating a fantasy world, we decided to do something a bit different. We’ve begun a new a series of articles that go through the whole process of writing a fantasy novel.

The reason why we took this route was to help any aspiring writer who happens to come to our website learn all about the process. Writing a book is hard enough but writing one based on fantasy is harder still. We want to help make the process as painless as possible. Don’t worry, our articles will examine one topic at a time, so you can peruse through them at your leisure.

For those who want to create a video game or write a graphic novel, you can still use this series as a guide to help you. After all, while the outcome might be different, there’s a lot of similarities in getting there so feel free to tag along!

The Future of the Website

It’s now time to look to the horizon past the one year anniversary. The website’s changed since the day it went live and it’ll change in the future. We’ll always strive to improve the user experience and make it a place you want to come back to again and again.

Even though we’ve dedicated over 100 articles on creating a fantasy world, there’s still a slew of things we haven’t even covered yet. These articles will build upon the solid foundation we established. Fret not! We’ll get back into it once the series about writing a fantasy novel is done.

We have great things planned for the website, so be sure to keep checking in! As to when they’ll happen, mum’s the word. Rest assured, the things we have planned will help you realize the world you’ve always dreamed about.

Our goal remains to be a place where everything you need to know about building a world is all in one place and everything we do reinforces that.

Lastly, we want to thank you for taking the time to come to our website. You’re the reason why we’re doing this and we appreciate you more than you know!
