Have a Happy Independence Day!

Three fireworks, one red, one blue, and one white light up a starry nighttime sky. These fireworks mark Independence Day. Under the sky is a hilly grass with blades of grass here and there.

A Celebration of Freedom

Today is one of our most sacred holidays in the United States. Independence Day is the anniversary of the day our ancestors declared their independence from Great Britain. The Revolutionary War featured a ragtag group of people rebelling against the most powerful country in the world. These men could have given up anytime but they chose to keep fighting. They fought for the idea of freedom and what it represented.

These courageous patriots fought for freedom and today we pay tribute to these heroes who won the War and created the United States. We Americans show our respect and reverence by attending parades held across this beautiful land of ours. We also barbecue and shoot off fireworks but most of all, we get together with our loved ones and celebrate this remarkable day.

For those who gave their lives pursuing the dream of freedom during the Revolutionary War and all subsequent wars, we keep them in our hearts, remembering why they sacrificed themselves. It’s our obligation to ensure their sacrifices weren’t in vain.

So when you’re shooting off fireworks tonight, look up in the sky and remember those who worked to make this land free for many generations.

The Land of the Free

This article is dedicated to everyone who gave their lives for freedom. While many of us Americans cheerfully celebrate this Independence Day, there are those of us who go to graveyards to remember the fallen and keep their memories alive. They lay down flowers and wreaths but they also remember why they laid down their lives.

We must never forget that freedom comes at a price. People chose to give up their lives so that others could have liberty and the names of these heroes echo throughout the hallowed halls of time. We learn about them and what they did and we dutifully continue working to keep this land free.

Have a happy Independence Day!

Until the next time,

Sunfire
